BACKGROUND
Purchased in September 2020 by Jean-Marc & Karen from the previous owner who lived on the
boat for 3 years in the Mediterranean. We prepared her to leave on a world trip, equiped
her in Port Leucate (France) for about 6 months with lots of new equipment, this is all mentioned in the detailed list below.
We left in june 2021 from France, passed through the Med towards Gibraltar and then on to
the Canary Islands. From there we crossed in December to the Cape Verde Islands to
prepare for the Atlantic crossing which we did in Jan-Feb 2022.
We are sailing the Caribbean waters since then, passed the hurricane seasons in the ABC
Islands (Bonaire – Curaçao).
As we lived full time on the boat, she has always been kept in excellent condition, much
loved, well maintained and always safely and competently handled without incidents.
INTERIOR
- Large owners cabin forward with en suite bathroom. Berth is 2m x 1.8m.
- Dressing table and stool, wardrobes and storage lockers above bed and large drawers/lockers below.
- Twin large hatches and one small hatch.
4. 2 x 3 fans, 2 x power points USB, 2 x extra power points 230v.
5. Full size washer/dryer in this cabin. Full height mirror.
6. Bathroom with fresh water flush macerator toilet. Shower with door and drain pump. Sink, lockers and vanity mirror. Good storage.
7. Huge main saloon with fold down dining table, to make 4th double bed with fill in cushion (never used). Central table, storage locker.
8. Slide out drinks cabinet. 2 x built in Armchairs. Lots of storage lockers under gunwale edge. Storage within seat units (except where subwoofer and water maker are installed).
9. Navigation table features a wide and very comfortable seat with tools and other items stowed here. Navigation books and charts stored under table. Decent navigation table with good Storage. VHF radio and Switchboard in handy position. Stalk light with red lighting option. AIS located here also.
10. Large galley bench area, 230v wine fridge under bench, Locker under wine fridge, double sink, fresh water hot and cold tap from tank and tap direct from watermaker. Good storage for food and all necessary cups, plates, glasses, pans, cooking utensils etc. Spice rack, pantry locker and more.
11. The 32” flat screen smart TV (Samsung) can is mounted in the navigation area and can be used as a computer monitor or watch movies from DVD player or HDMI to laptop. The table can fold down to make a comfortable place to watch movies with surround sound system (Bose).
12. Aft and each side of companionway are the two aft cabins identical except the port side is en-suite. Each cabin has a good wardrobe and storage for guests. Each cabin also has a fan and 12v socket for charging (and 230v power point). Each bed is a good size 2m x 1.8m and has 3 x opening ports.
13. Throughout boat there is good lighting with most light switches in the cabin roof. In the saloon there is special mood lighting to give nice atmosphere when entertaining. There is also a heater when sailing in cold climates (we never used).
EXTERIOR
- This is a standard Jeanneau 509 with the taller rig and 110% headsail for easier handling.
- The entire deck and cockpit is teak and very nice to walk on and very attractive also.
- 2017 code zero and furling unit, sheet and sheet blocks.
- 10mm galvanized short link 100m chain (new 2021) and spade anchor 35kg (new 2022). The anchor is very reliable, we experienced up to 50 knots wind on anchor without any dragging. Spare CQR anchor 20kg.
- The bow locker is huge with the code zero halyard. Emergency tiller, code zero and all fenders easily fit in this locker.
6. We use the fill in cushions as an exterior sunbed just forward of the mast in very calm conditions.
7. The mainsail goes up and down easily enough, just have to be pointing into the wind and the sail will flake onto the boom and sail cover with little effort. Reefing is also easy with the first 2 reefs using a continuous reef line (automatic) so you can stay in the cockpit.
8. The main halyard and jib furling line are all lead to the single electric winch (port side). This works well. With the manual jib and mainsheet winches (aft coaming) we found the boat very easy to sail single-handed.
9. For a gangway we use a wooden plank as being a simple, easy solution.
10. In 2024 we replaced the spray hood and bimini, fabricated by the original Jeanneau dealer. The clear plastics have great visibility and protection as seen below
11. There is full cockpit seating cushions so you can sit in the cockpit very comfortable. Additionally there are side shades that enclose the full cockpit. These zip on and off.
12. The center console table has fold up tables each side, (in 2021 we renovated the table) and a really
great place to eat meals (most of our meals eaten here!) The cockpit features 2 x large lockers underneath the cockpit seats.
13. 3 x hatches aft. The center one is for access to the generator and steering quadrant and each side are two deep lockers.
14. The transom folds down this has been one of the best features on the vessel… Very easy access to the water and easy getting on and off dinghy, loading stuff in the dinghy, easy scuba diving platform.
On one side is the life raft (new 2021 – including all new flares and all safety equipment). EPIRB (located near Navigation table).
15. Dinghy: Caribe marine hypalon RIB 2m70 (new 2021), with Mercury 5HP outboard.
16. In 2022, haul out in Curaçao for a variety of maintenance jobs on the vessel:
4 layers of antifouling (Seajet 038)
through hulls checked and changed replacement of the rudder bearings
installation of foldable propellor
17. Special dolphin watching platform made to measure in 2021. Allows you to pick up mooring balls in a very easy way.
