Blowing Bubbles 2.0

Writer’s block—that’s the best way to describe the long silence on the blog.
We haven’t exactly been idle, but somehow, posting an update just didn’t happen. A new year, new resolutions, and time to break the silence.

Attentive readers may have noticed that our Jeanneau is up for sale. However, this doesn’t mean we’re done with life on board. Just like with websites, it was simply time for an upgrade.

Due to a series of coincidences, we were presented with an “offer we couldn’t refuse,” and just like that, a new chapter began: Blowing Bubbles 2.0.

The new Blowing Bubbles is a Lagoon 46, a catamaran. Yes, we’re trading in the excellent sailing performance of our Jeanneau for more space and living comfort at anchorages.

Much like moving house, where you shuttle back and forth with a car packed like a game of Tetris, we’ve been ferrying loads across with our dinghy—so full that I barely fit in it. Different than moving houses, we have to be extra careful while loading and unloading to avoid anything ending up in the water.

Luckily, both boats are anchored side by side, so the overburdened dinghy trips are very short.

Unlike a house move, though, you leave behind the cupboards, fridge, beds, couch, etc. on one boat, which means we need to come up with a whole new strategy for storing everything on the new boat.

As you can imagine, this has taken quite some time. One boat is slowly emptying, while on the other, we’re trying to organize the chaos.
I don’t need to tell you that this process has been time-consuming. We may not be moving furniture, but besides clothes and personal belongings, we also need to find a way to store loads of dive gear, tanks and compressors, which is not always easy on a boat.
A catamaran may have more space, but the cockpit storage is more limited, so a bit of creativity is required to prevent dive gear from lying around everywhere. By the way, this project is still unfinished—there are still too many dive torches, hangers, mask straps, and slates scattered around.

But in the meantime, we’re settling into our new home on the water.

We have outfitted her to welcome guests, and we’re ready to invite you on board for an unforgettable scuba dive holiday.

We’ll take you to the most beautiful dive sites around our anchorage with our super-fast dinghy. Enjoy relaxed dives in the crystal-clear Caribbean waters, enjoy the fact of diving without encountering other divers.

Our kind of diving you’ll share with your buddy only. Between dives, you can go snorkeling along the shoreline, get lost in an exciting book on the flybridge, or simply take a nap on the sundeck. All you have to do is relax and enjoy.

We’ll take care of the rest.
